Unravelling the Uperoleia mystery

Uperoleia species are difficult to identify but we have some species such as Up. Inundata (Floodplains Toadlet) and Up. lithomoda (Stonemason Toadlet))which are quite widespread across the north and others which are quite localised. eg Up. arenicola (Jabiru Toadlet) We also have images of several species from Arhnem land which appear to be different but have not yet been collected and identified. (Elcho Toadlet) and the (Galiwinku Toadlet) Their calls are different so at least that is one mechanism we can use to try to unravel the mystery.

  • Hello Graham amd Ian, Ian you were interested in the frog in the back yard that angus found. He has captured another and we have keyed it out to be Uperoleia inundata. I will send a picture when I work out how to do so. Cheerio David and Angus.
