Soils are a really important foundation of what plants and animals will be found in an area and provide a great way to study a lot of different elements of the curriculum,  The science of soils provide a range of activities that can be conducted in the school ground and invertbrates and soil organisms, soil profiles, nutrition, chemistry and activities to improve soils for gardens or other projects are all things that can be extended into many areas of the school curriculum.
