Habits

Diurnal, no roost nest are built and at night the birds sleep individually on perches in thickets.

Habitat

Grassland Woodland Wetland, Cane-fields; grass bordering watercourses; pandanus; inland waters fringing forests; open woodland; floodplains.

Notes

Travel over long distances as the seasons change and the food dwindles.

Breeding

August to December; often autumn and winter, 5 to 8; white. eggs are incubated for 12-14 days by both sexes. Young fly in 20-22 days
